The winter season in Russia is a harsh period. Almost throughout the territory, it is prolonged, snowy and cold. The exception is the southern regions, where thaws often occur. Then wet weather is established at plus temperatures, sometimes with strong winds and prolonged rains. Winter in the Far East is frosts up to -25°C, in Siberia with temprature as low as -42°C, when Arctic cyclones take over the weather. In Oymyakon with average temperatures of January — 50°C. The hottest place with an air temperature of +45.4°C is located in Kalmykia.

Spring doesn’t come all at once. In March, a large area is still covered with snow, and the plus temperatures are only on rare clear days. It is warm in March only on the Black Sea coast in the Caucasus region. But the increased humidity often turns into prolonged downpours. The difference between temperatures can reach between the average summer values and the average winter values is 36 degrees.

Summer in most parts of the territory of Russia warm. Moscow often has hot, dry days in July. Thunderstorms and downpours are a frequent occurrence in the summer. In the Far East, summer is windy and comes only in July. On the Black Sea coast, summer is hot and lasts for three months, sometimes in September comes the “golden” time.

Autumn in Russia comes quickly — the air temperature can drop extremely, and precipitation becomes prolonged. Only on the Black Sea coast, the temperature in September is more or less stable — at the beginning of autumn, there is even a swimming season, since the air temperature is about +25°C, and the sea is +21+22°C. In October, the rains begin, the sea is often stormy. The first frosts with the minimum temperature dropping below occur in Siberia — in October. Sometimes it snows.
